The City of Chicago has issued a $70 million building permit to expand the security bridge over Cicero Ave. at Midway Airport.
The project, in concept for years and part of an overall $248 million airport renovation initiative, had been awarded to general contractor F.H. Paschen/S.N. Nielsen last fall. The contractor, one of only two bidders on the job, won the work with an $89.2 million low bid, the Chicago Sun-Times reported in September.
The building permit issued on Jan.16 describes the project as accommodating approximately 80,000 sq. ft. of additional space. “the new configuration of the expanded (security) bridge will allow for additional concession space, security checkpoints and includes upgrades to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, life safety and security systems as per plans.”
Key sub trades include: Electrical – Aldridge Electric; masonry – Garth Enterprises, Inc.; plumber/plumbing – Harrington Site Services Co.; and refrigeration and ventilation – Mechanical, Inc.
Angelo Construction reports it provided budgeting, schedule and constructability review services during the planning and design phases of this project and will provide project management /construction oversight services as the project is constructed.
