One Bennett Park, which would become the tallest all-residential tower in Chicago, has reached a construction milestone as the 836 ft. structure topped off in Streeterville on Jan. 18.

Multinational contractor Lendlease has been constructing the luxury and condominium building since May 2016. Upon its completion by the end of 2018, it will not only rank as the city’s tallest but also the neighborhood’s since 2009.

With the structure’s last beam secured into place, the contractor’s team will continue with construction of the building and its rooftop crown.

“One Bennett Park is a tower that will be seen around Chicago,” said Related Midwest’s senior vice president of architecture Ann Thompson. “ And the park gives a sort of centerpiece to the neighborhood.”

Designed by New York-based Robert A.M. Stern Architects, this residential development by Related Midwest has a facade inspired by historic Art Deco structures.

It is currently rising on a green space spanning 1.7 ac. situated next to Bennett Park which will be landscaped by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates.

The 70-story building is set to deliver a total of 69 condos and 279 apartments. The condos, ranging in size from 1,737 to 7,500 sq.ft., will be sold in the market from $1.9 million to $15 million.

Related Midwest is also building a similar but shorter 67-story tower within the new park designed by multi-awarded architect, RAMSA founder Robert A.M. Stern.

The tall slender structure features a mix of residential units, with 400 high-end apartments, 100 condos, and no affordable housing or retail component. It will only include a basement parking facility for 900 vehicles.
