The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE) has recognized five companies in it 2017 “Best Engineering Firms to Work For” competition.

The competition recognizes “firms that strive for continuous innovation, not only on the projects that they undertake but also on the environment they create for their employees,” ISPE president Jeffrey E. Large said in a statement. “We are happy to congratulate this year’s winning firms for exemplifying both and want to thank all participating firms for their support and enthusiasm for the practice of engineering.”

The competition’s winners were calculated by measuring the weighted averages of voluntary and anonymous survey questions regarding employee satisfaction with their work, benefits, management and available opportunities coupled with questions designed to measure employee engagement.

Firms were sorted into large and small categories based on number of employees working in Illinois with the cap for small firms being 50 employees, ISPE says.

Firms that qualified among the top five include:

Key employee comment: “Our senior management acts as a role model to all employees by operating daily with our values and mission statement at the forefront of their actions. When things need to get done, we embody the true sense of the word “team” to make sure the product is as best it can possibly be and on time. Lastly, Civiltech employees collaborate and share knowledge every day to better the company, each other, and the product/service we provide.”

Willett, Hofmann & Associates, Inc. – Honorable mention

Our employees do things together away from work which I believe improves the working environment at our firm. Our firm’s culture has led to long standing clients and employees who have worked for our firm for all or most of their careers.”
