Developer ZOM Living has started work on a $103.5 million high-rise at 939 W. Washington Blvd., backed a $92 million mortgage from Union Labor Life Insurance Company.
BKL Architecture designed the 15-story structure for the Florida-based developer, its first in Chicago. (The architect of record on the permit filing is Thomas Kerwin.)
The foundation-only permit issued on May 8 says the structure will have 357 units, a penthouse, above and below grade parking, and ground-floor retail space. There will be a 20,172 sq. ft. green roof.
Power Construction LLC is building the project for the owner identified on the permit as Haymarket Apartments Joint Venture, LP.
The city granted the ZOM Living a demolition permit in March. Published reports say the overall project calls for two 15-story towers above a three-story podium.
Subtrades listed on the permit include: Electrical – Shamrock Electric Co., Inc.; masonry – Adjustable Forms Inc.; plumber/plumbing – Great Lakes Plumbing & Heating; and refrigeration and ventilation – Heatmasters Inc.
