Chicago has issued a $31 million building permit for what will become a new Amazon warehouse in West Humbolt Park.

PREMIER Design + Build (PDB) Group of Itasca is the general contractor, working on the project for Venture One Development, LLC.

The online retail giant is taking over an abandoned warehouse at 1260 N. Kostner Ave., which had previously been the home of metal manufacturer Allied Metals, according to a company spokesperson and Ald. Emma Mitts’ office, Block Club Chicago reports. When complete in late 2022, the 26-acre delivery hub will provide nearly 500 full-time and part-time jobs, Mitts told Block Club.

The permit issued on July 29 says the permit is for a single-story “industrial building and associated site work.”

Key subtrades include: Electrical – Connelly Electric Co.; Masonry – Bouchard Masonry and Scurto Cement Company; plumber/plumbing – MVP Plumbing Corp.; and refrigeration and ventilation – MK Industries, Inc.
