Is 41 North Contractors, LLC really building a $100 million, two story structure at 1840 W. North Ave?
Not really, it’s a typo, said a receptionist at the contractor when contacted by Chicago Construction News. She couldn’t give the actual permit value, but if the building’s size is accurate (3,860 sq. ft. on the first level and 1,015 sq. ft. on the second) it would certainly be competing for the city’s most valuable project if measured by cost per sq. ft. based on the published permit value.
The former building on the site, previously home to the Southern Restaurant, has been demolished after Google’s street view camera last visited the area, but DNAInfo reported in May that Gold Coast’s Maple & Ash steak house will occupy the site once construction is completed.
Subtrades include: Electrical – Integrated Electrical Services; masonry – Duco Construction; plumbing – D.A.M. Plumbing Inc.; and refrigeration and mechanical – EVP Mechanical.
The mechanical contractor is actually VP Mechanical (Value Pro Mechanical) 🙂
