Chicago has issued a $21 million building permit for a new 22-story hotel at 228 E. Ontario in Streeterville.
The building permit says the hotel, to be constructed by Pepper Construction Company, will have 198 guest rooms, with one basement level on caissons.
The owner is listed as Smashotels Chicago LLC. Earlier published reports said the project is a venture of Lincolnshire-based real estate firm ECD Co., but the report in Chicago Real Estate Daily from 2014 said the hotel would be 17 stories, not 22 as indicated in the recently issued building permit.
The architect is Chicago-based firm Koo & Associates.
Key subcontractors include: Electrical, Kelso-Burnett Co., plumbing, James P. O’Sullivan; refrigeration and ventilation, State Mechanical Services.
