Uber gets to work on $72 million tenant build-out at Old City Hall

Chicago has issued a $72 million building permit for work for Uber Technologies Inc. at the old Chicago Post Office, 433 W. Van Buren St.

The permit says the work is for “first time tenant office build=out of single-tenant office space on floors 8 South, 9 South, 10 Southeast and 12 north. Partial work on floors 8, 10 and 12. New non-egress communicating stairs between 8 and 9.”

The project’s general contractor is Executive Construction,  Inc. of Hillside IL. Other subtrades include:  ElectricalTitan Electric LLC; plumber/plumbingGreat Lakes Plumbing & Heating and refrigeration and ventilationF.E. Moran Inc.

Uber is the largest tenant in the redevelopment project, after signing a 10-year lease for nearly 500,000 sq. ft. of office space in the building. The Chicago office will be the company’s second largest, outside of its San Francisco headquarters.
