Sika Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of specialty products for building construction, industry and automotive markets, brought its popular ‘365’ Event Series to the Chicago area in May and June, the company says in a news release. More than 250 architects, manufacturers, building owners and industry professionals attended the events to learn about the latest in building envelope, flooring and industry and automotive technologies, experience hands-on product demonstrations and receive AIA educational credits.

Highlights of the two events included:

  • Mike Singletary, NFL Hall-of-Famer, gave a keynote presentation around the importance of goal setting and how planning can help attendees better their future, professionally and personally. After his presentation, attendees had the opportunity for a meet and greet session along with the opportunity to win signed memorabilia.
  • Guest speaker Cliff Brewis, vice-president of editorial operations, Dodge Data and Analytics, spoke on how the growing residential housing trend affects Chicago and its professionals in architectural, construction and manufacturing.
  • Attendees were also given the opportunity to explore the benefits of Sika products through interactive demonstrations, including the Sikalastic Roof Pro system, Sika Post Fix, and Sikaflex polyurethane products.
  • Both events included cocktail hours, educational sessions with the opportunity to receive AIA and continuing education credits, and networking opportunities with peers.

Sika says its commitment to Chicagoland continues through its partnership with Rebuilding Together – Metro Chicago to rehabilitate the Youth Can community service building in Chicago’s Austin Community. Youth Can serves disadvantaged youth in Chicago’s Austin community by enriching their academic, cultural and social development through academic assistance, computer technology, art, and music programs.

Mike SingletaryOn Sept. 8, Sika employees and leadership will be volunteering their time and supplying products for the building rehabilitation.

“Sika is committed to the Chicago market and is proud to give back through the Rebuilding Together Youth Can project.” said Jay Thomas, vice-president marketing, roofing and flooring for Sika. “While the events were only one-day, our hope is that through our presence in the market and participation in the Rebuilding Together community service project, Sika will be able to make a positive, lasting impact on Chicago.”
