PREMIER Design + Build Group, LLC and Sky Fitness Corp. celebrated the official groundbreaking of a new expansion project at Sky Fitness on July 24.

One of Chicagoland’s fastest growing and most progressive fitness centers, Sky Fitness offers a wide range of activities, from hot yoga and personal training to ballroom dance and indoor cycling classes. The expansion project will add pickleball courts, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa area, and a restaurant/clubhouse to the 65,000 sq. ft. facility, further diversifying the amenities available to Sky Fitness members.

Many of the project’s stakeholders and guests attended the groundbreaking, including Buffalo Grove mayor Beverly Sussman, Buffalo Grove principal planner Nicole Woods, Sky owner Matthew Katz, managing partner Yan Belfor and executive director Larry Heller. PREMIER executive president Brian Paul thanked Sky Fitness for the opportunity and praised his team’s versatility.

“It’s inspiring to be able to take 70-plus years of design and construction experience and apply it to fresh, exciting new concepts like this,” Paul said. “We’re honored to have the opportunity to demonstrate the value PREMIER brings to the commercial fitness sector.”

The health club and spa is at 1501 Busch Pkwy. in Buffalo Grove, and is constructed primarily of masonry and an exterior insulated finishing system (EIFS). The expansion will add more than 40,0000 sq. ft. to the facility.

Partners in Design Architects, Inc. is providing architectural services, and engineering support will be provided by Swift Structural Design, LLC and Greenguard, Inc.

The project is expected to be complete by summer 2019.
