New generators and upgrades part of $75 million Mercy Hospital renovation

Chicago’s Mercy Hospital and Medical Center is moving forward with its $75 million renovation, with work on electrical system upgrades including new diesel generators and external site upgrades, according to latest $6,940,391 building permit issued on Sept. 13.

The overall renovation at 2525 S. Michigan includes a renovated lobby, patient room remodeling; a new infusion center for patients requiring fluids, chemotherapy, and other treatments; infrastructure improvements; and relocating the center’s intensive care unit. The work started last winter and is expected to be completed by 2019.

Walsh Construction Company II is listed as the general contractor on the most recent building permit. Subtrades include: Electrical – Huen Electric, Inc.; masonry – Garth Enterprises, Inc.; plumbing – Brandenburger Plumbing, Inc.; and ventilation – YMI Mechanical Inc.
