Leopardo Construction recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest residential project in Chicago, The Ave.

Located in the northwest side of Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, The Ave is a mixed-use housing development set to revitalize a stretch of Chicago Avenue. The four-story new development will include 52 affordable housing units, a West Side homeownership center operated by Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Chicago, and robust amenities including indoor/outdoor community gathering spaces, a bike room, fitness center and onsite parking.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration on this project with joint venture construction partner UJAMAA Construction, developers KMW COMMUNITIES and Preservation of Affordable Housing, and the design teams at Gensler and Nia Architects.

Amenities will include gathering spaces, a fitness center and at least 1,000 square feet of retail space. Julie DeGraaf Velazquez, vice president of Preservation of Affordable Housing, said the organization aims to rent to businesses from the area. The project will also have a homeownership center by Neighborhood Housing Services, which offers services such as homebuying classes, home improvement grants and new home loans.
