A combined housing and retail project slated for Roger Park is expected for completion between February and September 2019, said its developer Three Corners Development.
On Dec. 11, construction cranes were installed on the site at 6418 N. Sheridan Rd. Work on the Carolyn Hedger senior apartment building, and a parking facility, is slated to begin February 2018. The contractor will then proceed with work on a community room for tenants and retail space which are expected for completion by April 2018.
Interior work on the project, named Concord at Sheridan, will only begin after construction of all structures has been completed.
This construction schedule was revealed on Dec. 5 during a community meeting held by 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore. Although a communications plan has been provided, representatives of the project’s developer and its contractor Madison Construction were present to give more details.
Concord at Sheridan’s construction team has also created a hotline at 708-613-7217, for neighborhood residents who have concerns regarding the project.
Upon completion, the eight-story building, designed by GREC Architects, will deliver 111 apartments for seniors, out of which 60 percent are affordable housing units and 40 percent market rate units. Also included are 125 on-site parking spaces and about 30,000 sq ft. of ground floor retail space that will be rented out, mostly by a Target store.
Aside from its developer, the project was made possible with a contribution by the Chicago Housing Authority.
