DataBid reports significant bidding opportunities for Chicago’s municipal Small Business Initiative I in Community Infrastructure Contract areas 6, 7, and 8.

The overall opportunities are listed as having a value of between $1 and $3 million for sitework projects.

“The Small Business Initiative is designed to increase the opportunities that small businesses have to do business with the City of Chicago,” the city says on its website. “The Small Business Initiative institutes a program for small local businesses to be exclusive bidders on certain construction projects.”

There is a prebid April 17 at 1 p.m. at the City of Chicago Procurement Services, bid and bond room 103.

Bids will be opened as follows:

Area 6 – Bid opening May 10 at 11:00 a.m.
Area 7 – Bid opening May 15 at 11:00 a.m.
Area 8 – Bid opening May 18 at 11:00 a.m.

“All bid documents are available immediately unless otherwise indicated,” DataBid reports.
“A business card is required in order to be added to the specification take out list. If you are located outside of Cook County, and wish to have a bid specification package mailed to you, please call the bid and bond room at (313) 744-9773 and request the document by the specification number. When applicable, copies of bid specifications, plans and drawings may be obtained after submitting a deposit in the amount specified for each set of documents. The city will only accept a certified check, cashiers check or money order, cash is not accepted.”
