The Chicago Plan Commission will consider several major construction and redevelopment proposals Sept. 17, including a new 1.2-million-square-foot hospital for Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a new educational building for Francis W. Parker School.
The commission meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St.
At 330 E. Erie St., Northwestern Memorial Hospital is proposing to expand its existing development and build an approximately 1.2-million-square-foot hospital.
The proposal includes changes to the boundaries of the existing development and would allow the hospital to increase the amount of floor space that can be built on the site.
In Lincoln Park, Francis W. Parker School is proposing a 53-foot-tall educational building at 330 W. Webster Ave. and 327-335 W. Belden Ave.
The project would also include a pedestrian bridge connecting the new building to the existing school and lighting for the school’s athletic fields.
At 370, 400 and 401 N. Morgan St. and 403 N. Carpenter St., Chicago 413 Carpenter LLC is proposing changes to an approved development that would add more land to the project while reducing the size of the planned residential building. The proposal would increase the overall site area from about 133,000 square feet to 145,000 square feet.
The number of residential units in one part of the development would be reduced from 478 to 427, while the maximum building height would drop from 478 feet to 285 feet. Required parking would also be reduced from 192 spaces to 149.
The commission will also consider the Cicero Avenue Land Use Study, which looks at a 2.75-mile section of Cicero Avenue on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
The study examines opportunities for new housing and redevelopment, as well as improvements to streets, sidewalks, transit access and public spaces along the corridor.
