Chicago has issued a $25 million building permit to construct a new Amazon distribution center at 2424 S. Halsted St.

The one-story warehouse building in Bridgeport attracted some local opposition, and the Chicago Plan Commission approved the project by an 8-6 vote in November, a rare close decision according to Block Club Chicago. The 12,000 sq. ft. project along the south branch of the Chicago River includes a landscaped riverwalk.

Meridian Design Build LLC is the general contractor.  Subtrades include: Electrical – Lauderdale Electric, Inc.; masonry – Atec Cement and Franks Masonry, Inc.; plumber/plumbing – MVP Plumbing Corp.; and refrigeration and ventilation – CT Mechanical, LLC.
