Nothing is more critical to the success of a design + build project than ensuring field operations run effortlessly. And no one lives that ideal more than Ron Nelsen of PREMIER Design + Build Group, LLC.
He has more than 20 years of experience and 100 projects to his credit, and was one of the first two employees hired when the company opened its doors in 2004. He helped write the company’s success story, and in recognition of his accomplishments, has been promoted from director to senior vice-president of field operations at PREMIER.
The founders of PREMIER, Alan Zocher, Brian Paul and Alec Zocher, established the firm to provide the market with a high level of service to clients. At the core of PREMIER’s business model is honesty and reliability. All projects and client relationships are addressed with equal parts integrity and respect—and that starts with the collaborative and strategic, top-industry talent that makes up the company’s roster and is reflected in the company’s character. Ron Nelsen is a true catalyst and leading example of PREMIER’s culture. PREMIER clients value Ron’s knowledge, dedication and partnership and his team respects his achievements.
Ron has been responsible for the successful completion of more than 100 million sq. ft. of industrial and commercial real estate. Highlights of his career include leading the charge on a diverse range of build-to-suit and speculative projects including: The Mayfair Collection—a 255,000 sq. ft. adaptive re-use retail space just outside of Milwaukee; a 169,800 sq. ft. LEED Gold commercial office building in Lincolnshire, IL; the award-winning historic renovation of Hyde Park’s Harper Theater in Chicago; an adaptive re-use project for the University of Chicago’s all new Chicago Innovation Exchange; numerous medical office projects at the Silver Cross Medical Campus in New Lenox, IL; and countless expansive industrial spaces across the country.
What is the secret to a successful project? According to Ron, it starts with a commitment to people, persistent communication, creative strategy and planning and the ability to stay focused yet adaptable to change. He believes in being fluid in his approach to meet the evolving needs of his clients and in 100 percent dedication when working in the field.
“I deliver the most value when I’m of service to both my team and our clients,” Ron confirms. “I listen intently to what they need, work with them to develop solutions and I am committed to helping them succeed. PREMIER employs some of the most talented superintendents in the industry and a great deal of our success is owed to their hard work and dedication.”
Ron has seen PREMIER grow from a handful of employees in Illinois to its expansion into three additional markets —Florida, New Jersey and Southern California. He has put his heart into every project and always strives for excellence. He is a leader among leaders and that has earned him an executive position at PREMIER.
“Ron has been with us from the beginning. It has been an honor and a privilege to watch this company grow as a result of Ron’s commitment and dedication in the field,” says PREMIER executive vice-president Brian Paul. “We’re extremely proud to see him step up as our senior vice-president of field operations. We expect more great things to come from him and his team as we continue to help our clients flourish – today and well into the future.”
A commitment to clients and passion to deliver on every project has served PREMIER well over the years. The firm has persevered through a recession and won the prestigious NAIOP 2014 Contractor of the Year Award. Furthermore, PREMIER was recently listed on a Crain’s list of the largest privately held companies. PREMIER recently expanded its reach to the West Coast and has opened offices across the country to better serve clients where they do business.
You can count on Ron being at the forefront of this continued expansion. On any given day, you will find him in the field—an attentive, collaborative and passionate client advocate who ensures that every project is performing at its peak.
