The City of Rockford has launched a comprehensive housing strategy framework that will coordinate public and private resources to create and preserve a variety of housing units.
To achieve this vision, the city has set a goal of creating and preserving 6,000-9,000 housing units by 2035. Working with various stakeholders, the city has identified five strategies that will advance this goal, and has outlined specific actions we will take. To see the full document, please click here.
STRATEGY #1: Make Rockford an attractive place to develop in to encourage new housing choices across the market:

STRATEGY #3: Strengthen neighborhoods by preserving existing housing stock and revitalizing vacant and abandoned properties
