Updated plans have been released for a mixed-use redevelopment of the Hollander Building at 2422 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square.

GW Properties’ project has been designed by the NORR Architects. It will repurpose a historic site into a modern residential and commercial hub. It’s an adaptive reuse of the 108-year-old Hollander Storage and Moving Company building an adjacent barrel-truss building.

The five-story addition will include 62 residential units, a larger lobby and 15,500 sq. ft. of retail space.

There will be a strong emphasis on sustainable transportation. The reduction of parking spaces to nine, from an initial 15, alongside the provision of 64 bike parking spaces, reflects a forward-thinking approach to reducing automobile dependency.

The project will now require approval from the local alderman after a community meeting prior to moving towards city approval. A construction timeline has not been announced.
