Construction is set to begin on a 41-story apartment tower at the southwest corner of Grand Ave. and Orleans St. in River North, Curbed reports.
The 452-feet high tower will replace Clark & Barlow’s former hardware store at 353 W. Grand Ave. The store has sat vacant since the company closed in 2016.
Developed by Vancouver-based Onni Group and designed by Chicago architect Brininstool + Lynch, the $90 million project calls for up to 356 rental units as well as 261 parking spaces, ground-floor retail, and a small pocket park along Orleans.
The project will offer 36 affordable housing units on site, according to the Chicago Department of Planning and Development.
