City and state leaders broke ground Monday at the former Diplomat Motel, launching construction on The Haven on Lincoln, a 40-unit stabilization housing project that will provide wrap-around services to combat homelessness.

The Haven will provide transitional housing, health care and social services for people with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Located at 5230 N. Lincoln Ave., the site will include transitional housing, health care and social services for people with mental health and substance abuse issues.

The city bought the motel site for $2.9 million.
