The McShane Construction Company has been busy in recent days, handing over two finished projects.

The O’Hare Office Building is the most recent to be completed. Built on behalf of the developer, GlenStar Properties, the 150,000-sq.-ft. building is located a 3.5-acre greenfield site near O’Hare International Airport. It was designed by Wright Heerema Architects.

The eight-story office was constructed with 1,112 precast concrete panels featuing ribbon windows on top of a massive 4-ft mat foundation. To support them, the company poured over 4,800 cubic yards of concrete on top of 1,450 tons of rebar with the help of over 560 cement trucks during a 19-hour period.

According to McShane, “the first three floors and partial fourth floor of the building encompass structured parking, with floors five through eight featuring open office areas. The total parking count for the development is 628 spaces.”

Earlier, McShane completed Elan Yorktown, which it describes as a luxury apartment community in Lombard, Illinois. It was built for the developer Greystar and ESG Architects did the design work.

Elan Yorktown has 295 units, ranging in size from 626 to 2,471 sq. ft.

Built with wood frame construction, the apartment is finished in a combination of brick veneer, cast stone, fiber cement, metal panel and longboard siding façade. An attached four-story garage offers 461 car-parking spaces.
