Fulton Street Cos is expecting to break ground later this year on a mixed-use development project at 1201 W. Fulton in Chicago’s Fulton Market district. Here’s a look at what the project entails and the opportunities it brings for construction workers.

  • Height: 32 stories
  • Units: 433 residential units
  • Retail Space: 13,100 square feet on the ground floor
  • Parking: 80 underground parking spaces, 112 bike parking spaces
  • Developers: Fulton Street Cos in collaboration with Weldon Development Group
  • Architects: GREC Architects (revised design)

Originally designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, the project has undergone significant revisions under GREC Architects.

An updated design retains the building’s 433-unit count while modifying its height and facade. The revised plan includes a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Notably, the new design has moved the parking garage above ground, and the retail space now occupies the ground floor, replacing the previously planned covered plaza.

Urbanize Chicago reports that a demolition permit has been issued for the first phase of the project, to efficiently clear the site, making way for new construction.

The project’s unique design features, such as its glass facade with metal accents, will also demand precision and expertise from facade installers.

The design incorporates sustainable building practices, which are increasingly important in modern construction. The use of energy-efficient systems and materials will not only benefit the environment but also provide workers with experience in green construction techniques.
