Construction has started on the $13 million Clark-Estes Apartments, a mixed-use development, in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

The 58,000-sq.-ft. development will be built on the site of an old theater in the Rogers Park community at 1763 W. Estes. The theater, opened in 1917, was closed in 2002 and was demolished in 2006.

Designed by WJW Architects, the four-story building will offer 54 residential units and 3,300 sq. ft. of ground floor retail space. The affordable apartment complex will include a mix of studio, one, and two-bed units.

Walsh Construction is the general contractor. Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2019.
