Construction is underway on the 566 West Van Buren residential tower, a 12-story, 199-unit mixed-use development in Chicago’s West Loop near Union Station.
Clark Construction Group broke ground on the project earlier this month alongside developer Riverside Investment & Development Company and partners Blue Star Properties, Atlantic Residential, and METROPOLIS Investment Holdings Inc.. The building is designed by Antunovich Associates, with structural engineering by Thornton Tomasetti and infrastructure support from Spaceco.
The $85 million project will replace a former parking lot one block west of Union Station Chicago and near BMO Tower, adding housing density to a corridor undergoing rapid redevelopment.
The plan includes coworking space, a pet spa, a penthouse club room, and a rooftop pool deck.
More than 4 million square feet of new office space has recently been completed nearby, with additional institutional and commercial projects in the pipeline.
Once completed, 566 West Van Buren is expected to add residential capacity in one of downtown Chicago’s most transit-connected neighborhoods, reinforcing ongoing redevelopment in the area west of the Loop.
