Chicago issues $43 million permit for first of twin 14-story South Loop residential towers

Chicago has issued a $43 million building permit for a new 14 story residential building at 207 W. Harrison St.

Published reports indicate the South Loop building at Wells and Harrison will be one of two similar-sized structures.

The project, Alta Grand Central, is being codeveloped by Chicago-based D2 and Atlanta-based Wood Partners, Curbed Chicago reports. The architect is David Haymes of Pappageorge Haymes Partners.

The building permit says the approved project will have 173 total dwelling units, 140 “DU plus 69 efficiency.”

The general contractor is Walsh Construction Company. Key subtrades include: Electrical: Connelly Electric Co; masonry – Walsh Construction and Jimmy’z Masonry Corp.; plumberJames P. O’Sullivan; and refrigeration and ventilationGT Mechanical Product & Design.
