Turner Construction Company has marked a major milestone on a new parking facility at the University of Illinois at Chicago, celebrating the topping out of a $55-million, eight-storey parking garage.

The ceremony signified the completion of vertical construction on the project, which is being designed by Gensler and WGI. Once complete, the approximately 1,000-space garage will improve campus accessibility and help accommodate UIC’s growing population of students, faculty and visitors.

The milestone was recognized with a luncheon and on-site celebration, bringing together members of the project team and workforce to acknowledge their collaborative efforts.

“This topping out represents the strength of our partnership with UIC and the dedication of the entire project team,” said Erin Cullen, project executive with Turner Construction Company. “We’re proud to deliver a critical piece of campus infrastructure that will serve the university community for years to come.”

Construction on the parking garage is continuing, with substantial completion expected in summer 2026.
