Chicago-based Glenstar Properties, LLC and Walton Street Capital, have selected The Missner Group of Skokie, IL for the interior and exterior renovation project of their Continental Towers ― three 12-story offices at 1701 Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows. The project will be completed through a phased process.

The project’s first phase includes renovation of the three lobbies featuring decorative drop ceilings, detailed millwork for the newly improved elevator lobbies and modernization of the buildings’ common area restrooms. This work should be completed by the end of this month (Nov. 2014).

The project’s second phase will commence in the spring of 2015. The firm will construct new individual canopied entryways to the three buildings, a new main entrance, covered pick-up or drop-off areas, additional landscaping, as well as a five-story parking lot. The project also includes cleaning and re-sealing of the tower’s exterior, applying new accents and decorative lighting to highlight the buildings’ parapets.

“One of the most challenging elements of this renovation is the addition of the parking facility which will be erected over the existing detention pond,” said Glen Missner, executive vice-president of The Missner Group. “In order to construct the building above the pond, we will utilize 90-foot deep caissons which will keep the work area dry and allow us to build a foundation above the water level. It’s a significant project and we are pleased to have again been selected to work with both GlenStar and Walton Street.”

Chicago-based Archideas is providing the project’s architectural design. Misner’s vice-president of construction, Drue Stoehr is leading the project, with project engineer Uros Stojakovic and site superintendent Gary Bertoncini.
