The Town of Rockford has earmarked $31.5 million for road improvements in 2025.
Approved projects include:
Auburn Street – $6 million
- resurfacing and reducing from four lanes to three with a bi-directional turn lane to improve traffic flow and safety
- includes installing new sidewalks on the north side and a 10-foot-wide asphalt bike path on the south side, along with a new water main
11th Street – Phase One – $10 million
- three-phase, $20 million project will reconstruct 11th Street, reducing lanes from four to three, adding sidewalks, and installing a multi-use path
Alpine Road – $1.5 million
- half-mile section of Alpine Road will be resurfaced using funds from a $23 million surplus from the 2023 budget.
Mulford Road – $4.5 million
- 5 mile stretch of Mulford Road will be resurfaced using surplus funds.
Riverside Boulevard – $3 million
- resurfacing from Rockton Avenue to Latham Street and a half-mile section from Central Avenue to Packard Parkway.
The 2025 road program will accelerate major infrastructure projects by utilizing surplus funds from higher-than-expected state income and corporate replacement tax collections in 2022 and 2023. Interim Public Works Director Timothy Hinkens confirmed that Rockford will invest significantly more in 2025 compared to 2024, as part of the city’s largest-ever five-year Capital Improvement Program, now totaling $344 million.
