Chicago has issued a $45 million building permit to the new owner of the Medical Center Apartments at 1926 W. Harrison St. for a major renovation project.

Last year, the former owner, he Chicago Dwellings Association, hired the Chicago office of CBRE to sell the 18-story building, about a block from the old Cook County Hospital. “CBRE is pitching the building, which the affordable-housing nonprofit developed in 1964, as a redevelopment candidate—an opportunity for an investor to capitalize on the area’s resurgence,” Crain’s Chicago Business reported.

The current owner is listed on the building permit issued on April 15 as 1926 Harrison Properties LLC, Naperville.

The permit says  the work is for “privately funded privately-owned interior and exterior renovations to an existing apartment building. No change of use. No site work.”

The project’s general contractor is Focus Construction, Inc. Key subtrades include:  electrical – Bonus Electric; masonry – Midwest Masonry, Inc.; plumber/plumbing – DW Mechanical Group, Inc.; and Refrigeration and ventilation – Heatmasters Inc.
