The City of Champaign partnered with developer AHDVS, LLC to host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Bristol Place Senior Residences last week.

Site preparation for the 60-unit complex, designed specifically for seniors aged 62 and older, is underway. The development, located in the Bristol Place neighborhood, will provide affordable housing for senior residents, with construction scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.

“We are thrilled to see this project moving forward,” said Mayor Deborah Feinen. “This development not only provides affordable housing, but also enhances the quality of life for our seniors by offering a range of amenities that will support their independence and well-being.”

The completed Bristol Place Senior Residences will offer a variety of amenities, including a community center, media room, and fitness room. The $20 million project is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to ensure that seniors have access to modern, safe, and supportive living environments.

“This project represents a key piece of our broader strategy to address housing needs for older adults in Champaign,” said Rob Kowalski, director of neighborhood services. “With the collaboration of our partners and the dedication of our community, we are creating a space where seniors can thrive.”

The development is being funded with a combination of public and private investments, including support from the Illinois Housing and Development Authority.
