Ymer Technology, a manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) components for the heavy equipment industry, has officially opened its new U.S. headquarters in Buffalo Grove, a significant expansion in the company’s operations.

The relocation from Houston is supported by a $5.7 million investment and an incentive package through the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) program.

“Illinois’ future is electric, and we’re leading the charge and open for business,” said Gov. J.B. Pritzker, emphasizing the positive impact the company’s technology will have on the EV supply chain, job creation, and affordability of electric vehicles.

Founded in 2005 in Stockholm, Sweden, Ymer Technology specializes in advanced cooling and thermal management systems for electric vehicles. The company’s leadership chose Buffalo Grove due to its strategic location and strong network of industry leaders, making it an ideal hub for their expansion.

Bjorn Afzelius, announced that the company has already secured its first contract shortly after opening its doors, signaling a promising start for its U.S. operations.

“The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Lake County Partners, and the Village of Buffalo Grove worked together to support our site selection and assembled an attractive offer that highlights Illinois’ talent and favorable business climate,” said Frederik Peterson, the founder of Ymer Technology.

With more than $45 billion committed to modernizing transportation infrastructure and significant investments in renewable energy workforce training, the state is well-positioned to support the future of electric mobility.
