Chicago Construction News staff writer
Ciere Boatright, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD), will discuss pressing city development issues, including potential zoning changes on the Far North Side, the future direction of LaSalle Street in the Loop, and the new quantum computing park on the Far South Side, at an upcoming luncheon hosted by the Chicago Building Congress (CBC).
The event, scheduled for April 16, will feature Boatright in a fireside chat format, offering insights relevant to the city’s construction, development, and real estate sectors. Appointed in November 2023, Boatright leads the DPD’s economic development, planning, and zoning functions.
According to event organizers, the discussion aims to shed light on the city’s strategies for inclusive and equitable growth.
Boatright brings extensive experience from the private and non-profit sectors. Previously, as vice president of real estate and community development at CRG, she managed high-impact projects, engaged with government and community stakeholders, and secured financing. She also launched the firm’s philanthropic arm and a mentorship program for developers of color.
Prior to CRG, Boatright served as vice president of real estate and inclusion for Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, overseeing planning and development on the South and West Sides, notably contributing to the $450 million Pullman Park mixed-use project.
Boatright has been recognized by local business publications, including being named among Notable Women in Commercial Real Estate and 40 under 40.
CBC president-elect Shon Harris will moderate the discussion. A question-and-answer session will follow the main program.
The luncheon will take place at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch and the program starting at 12:00 p.m.
Tickets are $120 for CBC members and $145 for non-members. Registration is available through the Chicago Building Congress website.
