Chicago general contractor Summit Design + Build, LLC says it has been recently awarded contracts to complete the new construction of a racquet sports center and the renovations of the club cabana at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, IL. The new projects, as well as the recently completed Oasis, are part of a larger modernization plan at the country club.
Summit started work at Medinah in early spring with the remodeling of the clubhouse Oasis. The approximately 3,900-sq. ft. renovation added a restaurant quality kitchen and fully remodeled lounge and bar.
Work is now continuing with the ground up construction of a 1,700-sq. ft. racquet center, which will include six paddle ball courts, and the renovation of the clubhouse pool cabana with a new bar, patio and canopy. Two tennis courts will accompany the racquet center with prep for two more to be completed at a later date.
“Our job here is to help Medinah continue to provide top amenities to their members and honored guests, while maintaining the integrity and historic beauty of the iconic club,” said Helenia Madrigal, director of interiors for the contractor.
Medinah Country Club, with three courses set amongst 600 acres 25 miles west of Chicago, has played host to a number of international golf events including three U.S. Opens, one U.S. Senior Open, two PGA Championships and the Ryder Cup, as well as hosting the 2019 BMW Championship. The country club was founded in 1924, and the 105,000-sq. ft., red brick clubhouse was completed in 1926 and saw its last major renovations in the late 1990’s.
OKW Architects is the architect of record for both the racquet center and oasis/cabana projects.

That’s very cool! I worked at Medinah for 4 years (hs-college). It is such a wonderful, historical place.
