Construction crews working in the city’s Gresham neighborhood are being urged to stay alert as Chicago Police investigate a series of armed robberies specifically targeting workers at active job sites.
Since January, at least eight incidents have been reported, following a similar pattern, according to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department: one or two suspects—described as young men dressed in dark clothing and ski masks—approach workers, brandish a handgun, and demand personal belongings.

- 18: 7800 block of S. Honore St. – 7:52 a.m.
- 24: 1800 block of W. 78th St. – 7:37 p.m.
- 10: 1600 block of W. 79th St. – 1:00 p.m.
- 22: 7700 block of S. Wood St. – 10:02 a.m.
- 12: 7700 block of S. Paulina St. – 10:10 a.m.
- 19: 8000 block of S. Wood St. – 2:50 p.m.
- 1: 1700 block of W. 77th St. – 9:05 a.m.
- 10: 7700 block of S. Hermitage Ave. – 9:31 a.m.
No injuries have been reported in any of the incidents.
Suspects are described as Black males, between 16 and 20 years old, standing between 5’7” and 5’11”. They were reportedly armed with a black handgun.
Area Two detectives are leading the investigation.
