Adapture Renewables has started construction on a 128-megawatt Cooks Mill Solar Energy Project in Mattoon. The project will be managed by EPC firm Alberici Constructors.
“We are excited to collaborate with Alberici on this project,” said Zack Zoller, Vice President of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction at Adapture Renewables. “This partnership underscores our shared commitment to sustainability and highlights how solar energy can drive the future of technology. We look forward to delivering a project that will be a vital resource for local businesses, the state, and our energy buyers.”
This is the first of two solar initiatives Adapture Renewables is developing in central Illinois. Combined, the projects are expected to generate a net economic impact of $250 million for the local communities, the state, and the broader region. They will also provide diversified income streams for participating landowners and create approximately 300 full-time equivalent jobs during construction.
In addition to the construction work, Alberici Constructors will support educational initiatives through the Central Illinois Leaders Innovating for Tomorrow (LIFT) program. This program will offer high school students hands-on learning opportunities related to skilled trades, helping to cultivate the next generation of construction and energy professionals.
“This project is a fantastic opportunity for us to apply our expertise in large-scale infrastructure,” said Lance Cage, Executive Vice President at Alberici Constructors. “It not only aligns with our goal of delivering high-quality, sustainable construction solutions but also emphasizes the role of innovation in meeting environmental and economic objectives. We are honored to have Adapture’s confidence as we advance renewable energy and work towards the lasting benefits of this project.”
Construction is expected to wrap up by early 2026.
