The Collinsville Area Vocational Center (CAVC) will kick off a $25 million expansion and renovation project today, aimed at improving workforce training for students in the region.
The groundbreaking ceremony is set for 11 a.m. at the construction site at the intersection of South Morrison and Caseyville Roads in Collinsville, directly across from the current CAVC building and the Collinsville High School campus.
The event will be attended by officials from the Collinsville Community Unit School District #10, along with members of the design and construction teams, local business leaders, trade unions, professional organizations, and State of Illinois representatives.
The upgraded site will serve students from 10 Metro East school districts, including Civic Memorial, Dupo, East Alton-Wood River, Edwardsville, Highland, Lebanon, Mascoutah, Roxana, and Triad high schools. The new CAVC will offer career pathways in fields such as trades, healthcare, education, and the service industry, providing more opportunities for students across these districts.
