ASA Chicago – Association of Subcontractors and Affiliates, a local trade association representing commercial subcontractors of all construction trades for over 50 years, looks to return to popular event venue Venuti’s Ristorante and Banquets (Addison, IL) for the highly anticipated Meet the GCs event on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

This event, spearheaded by ASA Chicago’s Business Opportunities Committee (led by Chairwoman, Kim Robinson of Pella Windows & Doors and Co-Chair Jay Boban of Yard 1, LLC) has adapted in format in recent years to accommodate necessary changes to the networking environment.

In 2020 a virtual Meet the GCs series was offered, and for the past two years participants have enjoyed a refreshing outdoor setting, with the event taking place at the Wintrust Field in Schaumburg, IL — home of the Schaumburg Boomers baseball team. ASA Chicago is happy to announce the return of the event to its long-time home venue, Venuti’s where participants will occupy their total banquet space and meet general contractor estimators and project managers from 30 GC exhibitors.

The Meet the GCs event will also see its first-ever event theme, in a luau format – bringing a Hawaiian twist with half of the proceeds from all fundraisers dedicated to a relief fund supporting displaced residents of Maui.

What is the purpose of this event?

Subcontractor members of ASA Chicago rely in great part on general contractors for their work. This event provides them a key opportunity to speak directly with representatives of nearly 30 major Chicago area general contracting firms.

Among the exhibiting general contractors are: Richard Group, K.R. Miller Contractors, Inc., Redmond, The Walsh Group, F. H. Paschen, W.E. O’Neil Construction Co., Tyler Lane Construction, The George Sollitt Construction Co., Bulley & Andrews, Skender, Power Construction Company, Blinderman, Mortenson, Leopardo, Lamp Incorporated, Krusinski, Kiewit Infrastructure Co., McHugh Construction, IHC Construction Companies, International Contractors Incorporated, Graycor, GMA Construction Group, Gilbane Building Company, Clark Construction Group, BEAR Construction, Pepper Construction, Clayco, Inc., John Burns Construction, Valenti Builders, Inc., and more.

Ian Lamp, President of Lamp Incorporated and ASA Chicago General Contractor Council member since 2015 is looking forward to this year’s Meet the GCs and shares the following testimonial as Lamp nears its ninth year in participation:

“A successful project is the result of teamwork consisting of open and honest communication, integrity, grit, and having fun. Preparation for a successful team begins long before the project is envisioned. Participating in the annual Meet the GCs night allows us the opportunity to connect with trade contractors who we’ve not done work with and to reconnect with those trade contractors we do work with. This event is a great way to put a face to a name and build long lasting relationships.”

Estimators, project managers, and executives of the general contractors provide subcontractors with information about their companies and, most importantly, how to get on their bid lists. The event’s sponsors along with ASA Chicago’s Board of Directors are among those who will have first access to the GCs during the VIP hour preceding the official event start time of 6:00 p.m. when buffet dinner, beverages, and quality networking will commence.

Sponsors include the premier Event Sponsor: RentalMax LLC; Gold Sponsors: F.E. Moran, Inc.; Skender; Thorne Associates, Inc.; and F.H. Paschen, Silver Sponsor: Bulley & Andrews, LLC; and Bronze Sponsor: Esscoe, LLC. A Cigar Bar will also be featured on the venue’s outdoor patio, complimentary for attendees and generously provided by new ASA Chicago member, Balanced Environments, Inc.

The ASA Chicago General Contractor Council (GC Council) was launched in 1999 with the intention to improve communication and create a thriving partnership to benefit ASA Chicago members and the industry at large. Recognizing the importance of subcontractors, the mission of ASA Chicago’s GC Council is to facilitate communication, cooperation, understanding, and improved relationships between GCs and subcontractors by providing access, education, and exchange of information based on common goals and interests.

This annual affair is a key opportunity to facilitate this dynamic for ASA Chicago members and prospects looking to network, shake hands with individuals who they have only corresponded with via e-mail, fill their pipelines and strengthen relationships.
While focused on featuring General Contractors, the event attracts commercial subcontractors of all trades, vendors, and professional service providers from the Chicagoland construction industry to form an excellent opportunity for quality business networking.

If you do business in the Chicagoland construction market, this is a must-attend event where you will enjoy familiar faces and friendly ASA Chicago members who are extraordinary at connecting each other and assisting with introductions.
Interested parties can register at www.asachicago.org, with a sponsor deadline and early bird rates for members expiring Sept. 15.

Construction professionals are encouraged to sponsor and attend to ensure they are visible and actively benefitting from this unique opportunity, while supporting a great cause.
