Illinois State University’s governing board has authorized spending up to $41.5 million to build a College of Engineering campus at 1709 GE Road in Bloomington. The university last October agreed to buy the property for $17.5 million

Funding will cover the first phase of the project with an estimated $34.7 million cost to renovate the property and $6.8 million for classrooms, labs, and audio-visual equipment.

Trustees also approved the following projects:

Parking Garage Repairs – A capital project was approved with expenditures not to exceed $1.2 million for essential repairs at the School Street and South University Street parking garages. The project will address necessary repairs and restorations of the top parking level and the ramp to the top parking level, including the underside of that ramp. Construction is set to begin in the summer of 2025, with completion expected by winter 2025.

Athletic Facility Enhancements – A capital project for the purchase and installation of a Golf Team Hitting Facility and two Golf Simulators, with a total cost not to exceed $600,000, funded through donations to the ISU Foundation. The modular 16’ x 48’ facility will be manufactured by First Galena Corporation, and the simulators will be provided by Design2Golf.
