Chicago has issued a $20 million building permit to construct a new Whole Foods store at 3201 N. Ashland Ave.
The two-story building with a mezzanine retail store and parking on the lower level and first floor will be constructed by Novak Construction Co.
The building permit lists the owner as Ashland Belmont LLC. Ald. Tim Turney (44th Ward) say Novak owns the building, which will span more than 70,000 sq. ft.
Key subcontractors include: Berry Electric Contracting Co., Atomatic Mechanical (refrigeration and ventilation), Titan Masonry Enterprises Ltd., and Norman Mechanical (plumbing).

Kyle Davis of Gensler is listed as the architect.
