HIRE360, in partnership with JPMorganChase, celebrated a key step in expanding Chicago’s clean-energy workforce recently, with the graduation of the first cohort of the Clean Energy Construction Trades Pathway Program.
Fifteen participants were recognized at a ceremony held at HIRE360’s Training and Business Development Center after completing a comprehensive program aimed at preparing local residents for high-demand careers in construction, building operations and renewable energy. The initiative was launched with support from JPMorganChase.
Through the program, graduates received hands-on training in construction trades tied to the growing energy economy — including solar installation and energy-efficient building operations — and earned multiple industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA 30, Forklift Operation, GPRO Fundamentals of Building Green and the Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operations certificate.
Participants also completed field training at Kankakee Community College, toured several union training centers — including the Pipefitters, Sheet Metal Workers and IBEW Local 134 — and visited active construction sites across the region.
“Today’s graduates are stepping into fast-growing trade fields with the skills, preparation and confidence to succeed,” said Jay Rowell, executive director at HIRE360. “They have earned industry-recognized certifications, gained hands-on experience and demonstrated a strong commitment to Chicago’s clean energy future.”
Rowell added that programs like this “ensure residents have meaningful pathways into family-sustaining careers, while building the next generation of skilled workers who will help drive the region’s transition to cleaner, more efficient infrastructure.”
Matt Muench, head of careers and skills at JPMorganChase, said the company is proud to support efforts that expand access to skilled trades and prepare residents for energy-sector careers.
“Congratulations to the first cohort — by pursuing careers in energy and construction, you are driving innovation, meeting the demand for skilled professionals in these vital industries, and strengthening our community and economy,” Muench said.
Family members, union leaders, stakeholders and industry partners attended the event, which concluded with certificate presentations and a group photo.
HIRE360 said additional opportunities to join future training cohorts will be announced in early 2026.
