CA Ventures announces appointment of four senior executives

In a move intended to sustain its rapid growth, real estate investment holding company CA Ventures has announced the hiring of four senior executives: a divisional chief financial officer, executive vice president and two vice presidents.

The company has appointed “Michael Hales as chief financial officer for its CA Student Living and CA Residential divisions; William Vail as executive vice president of operations for CA Ventures’ ‘On Campus’ division; Karan Singh as vice president of research and analytics; and Matthew Katsaros as vice president of acquisitions for the company’s student housing and multifamily platforms.”

The new team will support the firm’s $6.3 billion portfolio that stretches through the U.S. and South America.

A media release announcing the appointments quotes CA’s CEO Tom Scott as saying: “These strategic hires will help us sustain our growth as we expand our portfolio in both new and existing markets. We are extremely busy across the country developing modern residential and commercial options designed to accommodate the needs of key decision-makers, so it’s essential to bring on experts who will keep the company on track with steady and thoughtful expansion.”

In his role as CFO Hales, previously a principal at consulting firm Bain & Company, will “identify key performance indicators to enhance investor returns and scalability for the company’s student housing and apartment portfolios.”

As executive vice president of CA Ventures’ “On Campus” division, Vail, formerly senior director of asset services with CBRE, will handle portfolio management and client relations.

Newly appointed vice president of research and analytics for CA Ventures, Singh, former director of strategy and research at General Growth Properties, will be “assisting in strategy and site selection for new developments. He will also establish on-demand analytics for the asset management and retail teams in order to enhance operational efficiency.”

Katsaros, in his role as vice president of acquisitions, will “source acquisition and development opportunities for CA’s student housing and multifamily investment platforms. Previously, he was director of acquisitions at Pangea Properties.”

CA Ventures portfolio includes student housing, senior lifestyle, multifamily, office and hospitality. The firm is focused on development and renovation, institutional joint ventures, value add investing, asset management services and equity and debt sourcing.
