The Indian Prairie District 204 School Board has approved contracts with two construction management firms to oversee major renovation projects at three facilities in Aurora and Naperville.
The board awarded Barrington-based Pepper Construction Co. the contract for renovations at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora. Chicago-based Bulley and Andrews will manage work at Neuqua Valley High School and the Birkett Center, both located in Naperville.
Contracts represent the latest phase in a district-wide construction and renovation effort funded by up to $420 million in bonds approved by voters last November. The projects are intended to modernize facilities and accommodate changing student needs across the district.
They include:
Waubonsie Valley High School (managed by Pepper Construction):
- Multi-phase renovation throughout the school
- $7.6 million auditorium upgrade
- Renovation of the athletic stadium
Neuqua Valley High School (managed by Bulley and Andrews):
- Additions to the main entry and new classroom space
- Renovations to the main hall and multiple building wings
- Installation of a new synthetic turf field
- Expansion intended to allow freshmen to return to the main campus in 2027
Birkett Center (managed by Bulley and Andrews):
Renovation of space to host:
- STEPS (Supportive Training Experiences Post-Secondary) program
- Gail McKinzie High School (credit recovery)
- A new district welcome center
- Professional development and STEM areas
- Career and technical education facilities
- District storage areas
