Chicago has issued a $27 million building permit for 43Green, a 10-story mixed-use project at 4308 S. Calumet Ave. in Bronzeville.

The permit issued on Oct. 23 says James McHugh Company Co. and Dukane Precast Incorporated are sharing general contractor status. Landon Bone Baker Architects designed the building.

Chicago YIMBY reported earlier that the project on a previously vacant lot adjacent to the CTA Green Line tracks is a collaboration between The Habitat Company and P3 Markets. These constituted the limited 43rd and Calumet Phase I LP.

The permit describes the work as: “New construction of a mixed-use/mixed income TOD building (type 1B construction), occupancy types A2, A3, B, R2.  The 10-story 96,212 gross sq. ft. building with 99 units (consist of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units) with ground floor entry lobby and retail fronting 43rd St. and 24 surface parking spaces.”

Subtrades include: Electrical – Superior One Electric, Inc.; masonry – Scurto Cement Company; plumber/plumbing – Caldwell Plumbing, Co. Inc.; and ventilation – Mechanical, Inc.
